Free Facts

Well, here I am Eight year later and I am definitely here to stay!

I want to start of with a short profile of myself.   Twenty years ago I started my role as an entrepreneur in the automotive and welding industry in South Melville, P.E.I..   I had great success, because I treated people fair and honestly and in no time I had built a large clientele.   Today I teach these two trades.   Five years ago I started my own auctioneering business( Moe's Auctioneering Service) at that time a good friend of mine, that I had many business dealings with, told me I would never exist as an auctioneer because I was to honest.   This has stuck in my mind for five years and I want to be quite clear that there is plenty of opportunity in the auction business for honest auctioneers.   The Auctioneering Association of Canada is full of honest auctioneers and I am proud to be one of them.

Being an auctioneer on P.E.I. is very unique.   There appears to be a tremendous pressure to outdo each other and depress the industry.   It is not my style to condemn any competition.   I have always felt that my competition was my best advertising.   I maintain that I have the best services and prices on P.E.I..   My prices are the same as auctioneers charged in the 1960's.   You be the judge of our services.

I Do!

- I am proud to be the only auctioneering service in the province that belongs to the Auctioneering Association Of Canada.   This means that my auctioneering service believes in a code of ethics when selling items through auction.

- I follow a code of ethics that is beneficial to both the seller and buyer.   It is not good enough for me to " just get rid " of your items through auction.

- I use a bidding card that have the terms and conditions of my auctions spelled out in writing.   No Guess Work!

- I am committed to providing the people of this province with sound business ethics.   This is why I am a member of the Greater Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.   I strive to keep updated on new business trends and modern technology and participating in life long learning to better the people I serve.

- I have a state of the art web-site that has many great features.

a. You can view my auction sale items from your home.

b. You can join my large e-mail list at no cost and have my upcoming auctions e-mailed to you before they are posted.

c. If you are unable to join me at an auction you can bid by absentee bid.   Simple directions to follow through our upcoming page.   We do a large volume of business across Canada.

d. People have access to my web-site through my web-site name and also through the Auctioneering Association of Canada's web-site which has the potential of high end buying.

- Book your auction sale early with me, because I will be televising your sale at all the auctions that I do prior to yours.   Pictures And All!

- I have mobile access to Visa, MasterCard and Interac that I provide at all my auction sales.    This enhances bidding by impulse buying.  ( Better Prices )

- I carry Commercial General Liability Insurance and Tenant Legal Liability Insurance.   Why?    When I invite people to partake in your auction I am responsible for their well being, not you the seller.   This is why I carry insurance.

- I use a fully computerized auction system.   ( You get an itemized list of every item that was sold and you get paid for all your items. )

- I guarantee prompt payment and satisfaction from your sale.   No waiting for your money or waiting to see what you received for a particular item!

- I give written " upfront " quotes.    You know in writing exactly what you are responsible for and what my service will do for you before we start.   No Guess Work!     I give service, results and honesty.

I use a communication system at my auctions so that every member of my staff are aware of what is happening at all times.    I sell in a particular order that is announced prior to the auction starting.   My auctions have flow!

- I always have and will continue to be the leader in the auction business through technology and service.   I give our customers the treatment that they deserve.   Moe's Auctioneering Service is a leader not a follower!

- I have always provided a trucking service after the auction sale.

- I provide a professional appraisal service, working with a host of qualified auctioneers and appraisers with a great variety of web-sites to confer with.

I Don't

- I do not jeopardize the sellers possessions by having an auction sale in the winter months, unless it is a pure necessity.    If the necessity is that great, I will store the goods until spring.   A P.E.I. winter  would have more control of an auction success, than an auctioneer.

These are the reasons that I do not jeopardize your possessions!

a. Weather conditions and a cancellation of the sale will certainly increase the potential for high cost overruns like advertising, hall rental, labor, and trucking.   Who pays?    (You Do)

b. Weather conditions and no cancellations of the sale.    ( Low Prices )

c. Dealers will not buy at fair market value because they will have to store the product until spring.

d. Seasonal employment ( the ordinary person cannot afford to buy at an auction sales while they are on unemployment. )

e. Some sellers tell me that they don't care.    They just want to get clear of their items.   ( I don't work for these people, I have a conscience. )

- I do not use the technique of false advertising.   False advertising is correlated with an insecure business or person.   I want to give you an example.    For an auction company to advertise that they receive the highest price for an item is false.   If they are operating above board and following the proper code of ethics this would be impossible.   I want to quote from Paul Gardner's article in the Auctioneering Association Of Canada Newsletter which relates to this very topic.    " This statement is impossible to qualify since there have never been two auction sales conducted simultaneously under the same condition. "

I am proud to provide a professional, legal auctioneering service!

Here are five of the most recent comments made to Moe's Auctioneering Service.

1. Thank you very much ( for the cheque ) and the outstanding auctioneering you did for me.    ( This same person has offered me 10% more commission for the next items that I sell for him. )

2. We have been going to auctions on P.E.I. for twenty-five years.   The auction that you had last Labor Day was the best auction we have ever attended.

3. We are ecstatic with the auction that you have done for us.   You and your entire staff are very professional and punctual.   Best of all you have provided us with seven thousand dollars more than we expected from the auction, which will cover the cost of moving the rest of our belongings to Ontario.

4. We can always tell when we go to your auctions Moe, that there is time and effort spent properly displaying the articles that are being sold.

5. We always enjoy when we go to one of your sales.   There is always an order of selling and you are very professional in the manner that you conduct your auctions.   We love that there is no bickering with staff or degrading buyers.    Your auction sales are very professional and relaxing.
